Space-A is the Air Force version of Space-Available, which allows members of the military to travel on aircraft, when there are seats available that would otherwise go empty, for a fraction of the commercial cost.
Active-duty military personnel and their dependents are able to travel at no cost on Space-A within the continental United States (CONUS), as well as Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Guam.
Military retirees, National Guard and Reserve members (on active duty or not), and their dependents are also able to travel at no cost on Space-A flights, but they typically have to pay for their own meals.
