Four distinct seasons and sun-filled days make Fort Leavenworth
an appealing place to live. This part of the country is characterized
by highly variable weather, but generally you'll enjoy lush green, warm-to-hot
summers, and sunny, crisp and cold winters. Kansas storms can be
quick and severe and move on just as quickly. Kansas is part of "tornado alley."
Tornado activity increases in April, May and June and you should familiarize
yourself with basic severe weather precautions upon arrival in the
area.
