Last time my DH went through a clearance check w/ interviews we were advised to clear up our credit problems.  So yeah, they will look at it.  So anything you can do to not repo would be a good thing.  I can't say for certain that you would lose your clearance but I do know it will definitely be noted in the file...any kind of financial problem or garnishment is noted as they do credit checks.  It is also a possibility it could go in your permanent file as a reprimand for money mismanagement.

I'd recommend seeing if there is someone on base who can assist you with questions on money management who could perhaps steer you in a better way to resolve your problem before it should come to repo.

BTW- Depending on your situation, you may be able to work with the credit company to extend your loan x months if you can make a payment or two now...we had to do that when we were caught between deployments and were stuck in unemployment hell.

I'm not sure, but my daughter did one time tell me she couldn't get bad credit because of the clearance.  Why don't you post for someone to take over your payments and for them to pay through an allotment.  There are alot of military families that need a car but can't afford a down payment but if you have them continue payments through an allotment you protect yourself and your credit.
